500 Miles To Memphis

Locals 500 Miles to Memphis and Kelly Thomas and The Fabulous Pickups to take stage in the Southgate House Ballroom with Nashville’s “alt country bastard”, Joshua Black Wilkins, Friday, February 22, 2008.

Nashville’s Joshua Black Wilkins (www.myspace.com/joshuablackwilkins) will be returning to Newport, this time with full band, for a show in The Ballroom of the Southgate House with local favorites, 500 Miles to Memphis (www.myspace.com/500milestomemphis) and Kelly Thomas & The Fabulous Pickups (www.myspace.com/kellythomasampthefabulouspickups) .

Wilkins has performed in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky several times solo and has developed a nice fan base. His music is difficult to classify but has obvious roots in classic country in the vein of Whiskeytown or Lucero. Wilkins is signed to Angryson Records. Wilkins will perform a 90 minute set preceded by Thomas’ band and followed by 500 Miles to Memphis.

Thomas and Mallot, front man of 500, will perform “Another Mile” together from Thomas’ 2006 release of the same name. The two co-wrote the song and are excited to have an opportunity to perform it live. Thomas will then join 500 Miles to Memphis later in the evening to perform, “Darlin” from 500’s recent release, Sunshine in a Shot Glass.

500 Miles to Memphis has been attracting the attention of music fans nationwide and their latest release has been very well received.
