The 2008 Jammy Nominees

The 2008 Jammy Nominees

Voting is now open for the 7th Jammy Awards. As previously reported, the Jammys will take place at New York’s Theater at Madison Square Garden on May 7, with Phish slated to take home the evening’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This year’s slate of nominees is particularly diverse, ranging from the Beastie Boys (Studio Album of the Year) to Neil Young (Archival Album of the Year) to Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings (Studio Album of the Year), as well as staples like Widespread Panic, moe., North Mississippi Allstars and the Allman Brothers Band.

The show’s co-hosts are also nominated: Grace Potter is up for an award in the Song of The Year category (“Ah Mary”), while Warren Haynes is nominated along with his band Gov’t Mule in the Live Performance of the Year category. Haynes and Potter also received a collective nomination for Tour of the Year (Gov’t Mule and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals on the Mighty High Tour). Similarly, the Disco Biscuits and Umphrey’s McGee are co-nominated for Tour of the Year (their summer co-bill, D.U.M.B.), while the Biscuits are up for DVD of the Year and Umphrey’s McGee is nominated for Live Album of the Year. North Mississippi Allstars/Black Crowes guitarist Luther Dickinson received two nods in the Live Performance of the Year category and an additional nomination for DVD of the Year.

In addition, Keller Williams and Phish’s Page McConnell are each nominated in both the Album of the Year and the Song of the Year categories. Meanwhile, McConnell will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award along with Phish, who are also nominated in the Archival Album and eMusic Download of the Year categories.
