Cincinnati’s own Jon Justice Band will be opening for blues legend Watermelon Slim on August 25, 2008 at Stevie Rays in Louisville, KY.
In December 2006 Watermelon Slim garnered a record-tying six 2007 Blues Music Award nominations for Artist, Entertainer, Album, Band, Song, and Traditional Album of the Year. Only the likes of B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray have ever landed six. In 2008 Watermelon Slim was again nominated for 6 Blues Music Awards, the only musician to be nominated in 6 categories twice.
Jon Justice Band recently has released his 2nd full length cd “The Rebound” now available on cdbaby.com. Jon Justice also won the Cincinnati Blues Challenge and represented the Queen City at the 2008 International Blues Challenge.
