Dave Matthews Band Plots Live Bonanza

Dave Matthews Band fans will have two distinct live releases to savor on Dec. 16, when Bama Rags/RCA separately unveils “Live at Mile High Music Festival” and “Live Trax Vol. 13.”

The former was recorded July 2 outside Denver, while the latter was taped June 7, 2008, at St. Louis’ Busch Stadium.

Highlights from “Live at Mile High” include covers of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” and Sly & the Family Stone’s “Thank You (Falettin Me Be Mice Elf Agin),” a full band version of “Gravedigger” and sax work from Jeff Coffin, filling in for LeRoi Moore, who died unexpectedly on Aug. 19.

“Live Trax Vol. 13,” which has been available since last month via the band’s merchandise store, unearths the ultra-rare “Recently”->”Water Into Wine” jam and a cover of Neil Young’s “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black).”

The new songs “Cornbread” and “#27 (I Hope You’ll Be By Me Then)” make appearances during the shows as well, although it’s unknown if either will appear on Dave Matthews Band’s next studio album, due sometime in 2009.
