The Julie Martin Memorial Fund
Julie Martin died tragically on September 14, 2007 while traveling with local musician, Chris Walker, to a gig in Indianapolis. The following is some information regarding the fund set up in her memory.

Julie Martin, was the Case Management Coordinator at the YWCA Battered Women Shelter. She has been with the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati for seven years and was a tireless advocate for battered women and their children. She was so dedicated – she always went the extra mile making sure that women had every opportunity to gain independence and live abuse free. Julie’s car overflowed with household items that she gave to women moving out of the shelter helping them to start a new life.
Julie always advocated fiercely for the families that she served and was intolerant of any system that attempted to re-victimize them. In 2006 she was honored by the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless with the Service Provider of the Year Award. She will be sorely missed by staff, volunteers, residents of the shelter and the social service community. Over her seven years of employment, Julie truly made the difference in thousands of women’s lives.

The Julie Martin Memorial Fund has been established with a generous gift from an anonymous donor. The fund will be used to provide resources to women and their children residing at the shelter which will enable them to live independent and abuse free. Contributions can be made to the memorial fund through the YWCA.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan’s compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 million since inception in 1982. As the word’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we’re working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

Suggested donation at the door is $10. Ages 18 and up welcome.
Doors at 7:30 p.m.
