New York, NY – Singer-songwriter David Berkeley will be teaming up with a talented group of musical scribes for an in-the-round tour appropriately dubbed “All The Lads And A Lady.” As the name suggests, Micah Dalton, Ryan Horne, Jon Black & Kim Taylor will join Berkeley for a two-week jaunt through mid-America this spring.
Heralded by WXPN’s PD Bruce Warren as “A singular new voice to arrive on the music scene,” David Berkeley releases his 3rd studio CD Strange Light on May 26th via Thirty Tigers.
Berkeley graduated from Harvard and spent many years as a whitewater rafting guide in Idaho, a combination that comes through in his thoughtful prose, which take us deep into the American landscape. David Berkeley’s songs are stories, each one an introspective and emotional telling of a tale, firmly rooted in time and space. The true uniqueness in David’s music is his gift for melody and his poetic and philosophic lyric writing
“David Berkeley’s songs are simultaneously delicate and sturdy,” says Rhett Miller of the Old 97s. “If they leave you unmoved, you are made out of stone.”
Produced by Brian Deck (Iron and Wine, Counting Crows, Josh Ritter, Modest Mouse) and featuring Nickel Creek’s Sara Watkins on background vocals, Strange Light features Berkeley’s most accessible and powerful work yet.
“David Berkeley sings in a lustrous, melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake. As his melodies ascend to become benedictions and consolations, the music shimmers and peals.”
– Jon Pareles, The New York Times
