2009 CEA nominated Shiny and The Spoon (Amber Nash and Jordan Neff) will be releasing their debut cd on 1/22/2010 at Rohs St Cafe in Cincinnati, OH. Joining them for this wonderful night of folk/americana music will be Wild Carrot (CEA Award winner), Mark Utley (from Magnolia Mountain, also nominated for a 2009 CEA) and Mike Oberst (from The Tillers, 2009 CEA award winner).
Shiny and the Spoon gives off the warmth and intimacy of the likes of Johnny Cash and June Carter, with a sense of humor -whether it be present in sardonic lyrics or door prizes- that creates a wonderfully fun live show. Their originals are soulful, clever, and laced with hints of Patsy Cline, Gram Parsons, Elvis Costello, and Tom Waits.
One of their YouTube videos, a cover of a-ha’s “Take On Me,” recently went viral on the internet, spiking up to over 40,000 views in a matter of days.
Shiny and the Spoon recently had the honor of performing at Cincinnati’s Midpoint Music Fest 2009 and the 2009 BRINK New Music Showcase and were nominated for a 2009 Cincinnati Entertainment Award for New Artist of the Year
