In December of 2009, STS9 sat down in Denver, Colorado in one of America’s most pristine modern opera houses to create “Axe The Cables… An Evening of STS9.” What this night encompasses is one of the most flawless evenings of STS9 music in the band’s decade plus history. The entire show was played, for the most part, sans all “electric” gear including the common stage instrumentation of laptops and samplers that fans have grown accustomed to as the band’s sound has evolved. To say the event was a hit is an understatement. It was a night legends are made of…so much so that the band has decided to re-mix and re-master this into one massive release on their ever-exploding indie record label, 1320 Records.
Axe the Cables will be available June 29th exclusively through 1320 Records and iTunes.
Plans are also in the works to release correlating HD video of much of the show via iClips.net
STS9 is on tour in the coming months, performing select intimate acoustic Axe The Cables shows in New York, Chicago, and Atlanta, as well as plenty of the electronic heavy-hitting events the band is known and loved for, culminating with their annual, 2 night musical takeover of Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. STS9 has signed on a massive slew of supporting acts across the entire tour including Thievery Corporation, Big Gigantic, The Disco Biscuits, The Album Leaf, Lotus, Ghostland Observatory, Bassnectar, Alex B, John Hughes, RJD2, and many more to still to come.
In addition to keeping busy throughout the past year by releasing albums, tapping into their acoustic roots, and zigzagging across the country for live shows, with the overwhelming help and support of their fan-base, STS9 recently achieved their goal of raising $150,000, which will build a home for the Make it Right Foundation in New Orleans. Through $1 per ticket fees, the release of Peaceblaster : The Make it Right Remixes, and VIP sound-check events in numerous cities throughout the past year, STS9 will soon break ground on a sustainable home in the Lower 9th Ward, in an effort to help re-build the great city of New Orleans.
Following up their first ever movie score for 2007’s film adaptation of Japanese author Haruki Murakami’s All Gods Children Can Dance, May 2010 brings STS9’s sophomore film score via REGENERATION, a documentary film, which hit the screens with two sold out showings at the Seattle International Film Festival and has landed a number of other invitations as well in the coming months across the world including a June showing at the Bill Clinton Library in Little Rock to close the Little Rock Film Festival.
Narrated by Academy Award Nominated actor Ryan Gosling, ReGENERATION features some of our country’s leading scholars, social activists, and media personalities, including Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Talib Kweli among a slew of others.
REGENERATION is the story of today’s generation. REGENERATION is the story of us.
