YELLOW SPRINGS, OH—HighPoint Music Festival launches from the highest point in Ohio, at the high point of summer, Friday, August 20th at Zanes Shawnee Caverns in Bellefontaine, Ohio. The roots festival features an exciting line up of live music encompassing original bands in flavors of Rock n Roll, Funk, Acoustic, Reggae, Progressive, Afro Beat, Jam Bands, and more, including some of your favorite covers and familiar tunes. Cincinnati based Rumpke Mountain Boys and Youngstown’s Jones for Revival will headline Friday night and on Saturday, Columbus based ekoostik hookah takes the stage followed by Romeo Champagne from Dayton, Ohio. The event hosts a diverse lineup of acts throughout the event into the early morning each day.
The festival runs from Friday at noon through noon on Sunday the 22nd and the event is packed with activities both days, including drum circles, games, open and guided trails and cavern tours, with children art & crafts tent provided and above all, over 20 bands from across the state and in Indiana. Mindy Harney, from Funky Bean Productions and organizer for the event commented: “Our last weekend festival, Harvest Jam, subsequent to the BoomBox Summer Shakedown event, was held on the weekend of September 14th and 15th, 2007, in Yellow Springs, OH., and was a huge success combining the best bands from Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. For the last 5 years exposure to our shows has grown in geometrical proportions. We have also doubled the number of attendees and the quality of the artists performing at our shows over the years and both our bands and our reputation for solid music have increased both in talent and popularity.”
The first Annual HighPoint Festival will attract hundreds of people in attendance and dozens of food, merchandise and arts & craft vendors that will keep us delighted all through the morning, afternoon and evening hours. Come out and experiencing some of the regions best bands encompassing both new and established talent. Funky Bean Productions also produces the “Bearfoot Boogie” events of 2009 and 2010 in Yellow Springs, OH., elevating the level of artistry and music in Yellow Springs and surrounding areas.
The seeds are planted, HighPoint Music Fest is growing and we want to make you a part of that growth. Admission is $35 in advance and $45 at the gate, $5 from each sale goes to benefit the Shawnee Nation Remnant Band and to support Zane Shawnee Caverns and another portion of the proceeds will go to support the AIDS Resource Center Ohio (ARC Ohio).
