‘Reverie’ was recorded in front of a studio audience, but it’s not a ‘live‘ album as such. The crowd was nearly silent; it was simply an attempt capture the energy of performance in front of humans, where songs breathe, and are expanded by the combined energy of the crowd. Wilcox performed with recorders rolling over two nights at The Monastery in Cincinnati, OH.

The crowd knew they were coming to an unorthodox show and were asked to be as quiet as possible and refrain from applause until signaled that it was okay. However, it ended up being much closer to a regular concert than recording session. There were very few restarts or second takes. Careful listening will turn up some noise from chairs and street outside.

The majority of songs were written by Wilcox alone, but there are three co-writes with others – singer/songwriters Gary Jules (“Angeline” and “Reverie”) and Billy Jonas (“One Way to Find Out”).

Wilcox will be touring extensively in support of this release.
