The Bridge

The Bridge have just released their brand new studio album National Bohemian on Woodberry Records/Thirty Tigers. It debuted upon its release at No. 55 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, marking the band’s highest charting recording to date. For this latest effort, the Baltimore-based six-piece enlisted Grammy Award-winning producer and Los Lobos multi-instrumentalist Steve Berlin to join the band in the production chair. Ranging from the voodoo-tinged psych rock of “Sanctuary” to the modern day murder ballad “Moonlight Mission,” the 11-track collection is shaped by the dynamics that distinguish the band’s two principle songwriters Cris Jacobs and Kenny Liner. Jacobs delivers Dixie-drenched southern soul, while Liner’s approach is steeped in swaggering American roots music.

The fearless leaders of The Bridge have traveled an enormous distance to get where they are; all the way from living off-the-grid on a remote Hawaiian farm–in Kenny Liner’s case–and chafing in the buttoned-down corporate world–in Cris Jacobs’–to making a formidable album that’s fed by hometown roots and laced with wanderlust.

National Bohemian is a nod to both Baltimore’s beloved local brew and The Bridge’s creatively rewarding but often unglamorous hard-touring lifestyle. It’s also the work of a dexterous band of players to be reckoned with.

Plans are set for The Bridge to tour throughout 2011 in support of National Bohemian. After support stints earlier this year with the likes of Trombone Shorty, Galactic and Tea Leaf Green, The Bridge head out for a headline run that stops in Newport, KY on Thursday, March 3 at Southgate House.
