Boston, MA’s Tallahassee is with out a doubt the only band fronted by a former NFL offensive lineman who gave up that life to pursue music. They merge Indie, Rock, and Americana, to create delicately arranged songs of place and introspection. The band blends traditional banjo, upright bass, and vintage acoustic guitars with driving electric rock instruments to deliver a raw and powerful performance. Tallahassee brings together familiar feelings of home and comfort to the listener with an edge and sound that is all their own.

In 2010 Tallahassee successfully raised $15,000 through their fans during a pledge drive for their upcoming 2011 full length release “Jealous Hands.” They recorded the album in September of 2010 at Perfect sound Studios in Los Angeles. Perfect Sound has recorded clients such Ryan Adams, Band of Horses, Tenacious D, The Murder Dolls, Sum 41, Rob Zombie, and many more. Tallahassee was fortunate to work under the engineering and mixing expertise of Jason Donaghy who has worked with Band of Horses, Ryan Adams, Josh Ritter, The Red Labels, Manic Street Preachers and The Murder Dolls (to name a few).

The band has been fortunate to share the stage with notable bands such as The Low Anthem at Lupo’s in Providence, Steve Earle at The House of Blues in Boston, Good Old War, These United States, Diamond Doves (members of Elvis Perkins In Dearland), Marjorie Thompson, Metavari, The Lighthouse and the Whaler, Brownbird, and Marco Benovento. They have also performed at The Brown University Folk Festival, The Welcome Festival, RISD What We Do Festival, Folklore Festival, The 2010 Johnny Cash Benefit at Brown University, Tufts University, and Boston University.

Tallahassee has received a lot of notice by Urban Outfitters. They were featured in Urban Outfitters blogs twice, on 08/03/10 and 08/11/10, and had one of their songs posted on the New Music Monday Feature (See Press Section for links to all of these plugs). When Tallahassee’s 2011 full length, “Jealous Hands,” is completed Urban Outfitters will have a single featured on the LSTN compilation. Recent artists on the compilation include Pavement, Phoenix, The Arcade Fire, Of Montreal, Local Natives, Grizzly Bear, Passion Pit, Delta Spirit and many other notable artists.

In April 2010 Tallahassee was invited to record with producer/engineer Brigham Brough (Elvis Perkins in Dearland, The Diamond Doves) in his studio in Providence, RI. This was Tallahassee’s first recording with their current line up. With only minimal time to prepare they crafted together this excellent EP, which was performed primarily live, and includes a song from a live show with The Low Anthem at Lupo’s in Providence.
