Voodoo Loons to headline St Patrick’s Day lineup on Fountain Square

Cincinnati, OH, Mar 6 – Voodoo Loons, the Irish-American underground alt-rock trio that splits its home between Ireland and Cincinnati, will headline this year’s St. Patrick’s Day lineup on Fountain Square.  The band’s 8:30pm set caps off a full day of festivities which will include the annual parade, food and drink, and Celtic-influenced music (ranging from traditional to rowdy pub calls to rock) all day, beginning at 10:30am.

The Loons last played the Cincinnati area last St. Patrick’s Day, at their show at the now-defunct Southgate House.  In addition to material from their previous releases, this year’s set will also include new tracks from their forthcoming album, including its first single “The Winter Trail”, which is currently in rotation on SiriusXM, and featured regularly on the satellite provider’s Celtic Crush program.  The band also has been previewing other new tracks on their website and Facebook pages, most recently the psychedelic “Loving the Monster”, which is currently available via free download.

“St. Paddy’s Day is always a special show for us” explains O’Hagan,  “but this year will be particularly fun as we’ll be capping off a whole day of Irish music, and outdoors at that.  Usually it’s a musty old club or pub, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but outdoors sounds better.” The band will be joined again this year by frequent guest Mark Daly on mandolin, whose extensive credits include work with Levon Helm, Bela Fleck, and countless bluegrass legends.
