2012 Guinness Oyster Fest returns to Fountain Square on Saturday, September 1st

CINCINNATI (8.30.12) – The 2012 Guinness Oyster Fest returns to Fountain Square on Saturday, September 1st for an evening of family-fun. From 5PM to 11PM, patrons can enjoy live performances from The Whompers, The Heavy Hinges (formerly known as Buckra), and Cincinnati’s favorite “rowdy Irish rock band”, The Unlucky Charms.

And what evening would be complete with one of Fountain Square’s wacky speed-eating contests? At 8:00PM, ten challengers will compete to see who can successfully consume thirty-six raw oysters in the least amount of time. The winner of the event will be crowned as the 2012 Oyster Eating Champion.

Not a fan of speed-eating challenges? We’ll also have plenty of tempting oyster delicacies (ranging from $2 to $6), like Washington Platform’s famous Creole Oyster Gumbo, and lots of ice cold Guinness to keep you feeling full and satisfied all night long.

Produced by 3CDC, the 2012 Guinness Oyster Fest is FREE and open to everyone. Visit www.myfountainsquare.com for more information, including a detailed band schedule. Special thanks to our sponsors: Guinness, Ohio Valley Beer & Wine, Washington Platform and 96 Rock.
