Eric Burdon and The Greenhornes Release EP On Record Store Day’s Black Friday

Hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the “100 Greatest Voices of All Time,” Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Eric Burdon has teamed up with producer Brendan Benson Cincinnati garage rock mainstays The Greenhornes for a four song EP. The album will be released on 180 gram vinyl only on Record Store Day’s “Black Friday” (November 23rd) on Readymade Records. The album will be released digitally on November 27th, and available for pre-order now at this link: http://jsrdirect.com/bands/ericburdon/.

Eric Burdon has been a commanding presence in the musical landscape as the front man for The Animals and WAR and in his own solo career. The Cincinnati trio of Craig Fox, Patrick Keeler (The Raconteurs) and “Little Jack” Lawrence (The Raconteurs, Dead Weather, Blanche) have always cited The Animals as one of The Greenhornes’ biggest influences. Bringing the two parties together was a natural fit and an inspired idea.

This collaboration was Brendan Benson’s inspired idea to reinvigorate the sound of The Animals. After Benson performed with Burdon at SXSW 2012, he immediately knew that the voice of The Animals would be a perfect match for the Greenhornes and brought the two parties together in Nashville at Welcome to 1979 studio. Benson had previously worked with The Greenhornes rhythm section in their band The Raconteurs and also as a producer on their 2005 EP East Grand Blues. The week following SXSW Benson, Burdon and The Greenhornes hunkered down at Nashville’s Welcome to 1979 studio and produced the four song EP. This four song EP, recorded in a day and a half, is a result of an immediate and simultaneous connection.
