Newport KY, December 22, 2012 Tis the season to dance your socks off! The Perfect Children have invited Heavy Hinges, and Culture Queer to deck the halls of the Revival Room at the Southgate House Revival. In true holiday spirit, a canned food or non-perishable item will be appreciated and welcomed (a bin will be in the Lounge until the end of the month to collect the charitable items).
The Perfect Children are the romp and stomp; the fresh wound of broken love; laughing in spite of pain. They are a girl (Kristen Kreft-J Dorsey Blues Revival, Pearlene, Abiyah) with something to say and a boy (Adam Shelton-RX-2, Luther The Geek, Gordy Horn) to help deliver the message, cathartic but engaging. They live at the intersection of Holly Golightly, Dex Romweber, Nina Simone, Memphis Minnie and Otis Redding. They play from the gut, heart, and soul and are rough, raw, and real. They will guilt trip you into getting outta your seats with their dirty showcase, further punctuated by two backing vocalists (Beth Harris-Hiders/ Nicole Potter-Bornegreibe-Cincinnati newcomer) who aid in lifting the stage off the floor and blowing the doors off the joint. To quote Little Richard, they will curl up under your big toe.
Culture Queer is international pop quartet that blends sweet and melodic guy/girl harmonies and weirdo soundscapes. These Cincinnati natives embrace their midwest roots but also transcend it with a sound that is completely unique and without pretense. Their live shows are always a spectacle as they combine live mixed video with their sets. (3 members are accomplished filmmakers). As all members are multi-instrumentalists (their drummer is a girl for God sakes!) they defy comparison and love to mess with the audience’s sense of normal. After the show, they will talk to you about love, death and how you are feeling.
Heavy Hinges are a self proclaimed mess of rock soul and gospel. They are full of good vibes and posatively infectious tunes.
The doors open at 9pm with a $5.00 cover for 21 and up/$8 for ages 18-21, Saturday, 12/22/12
