Austin based indie band The Eastern Sea will hit the road in January with Kopecky Family band on their first national tour since the release ofPlague earlier this summer. Stops include Nashville, Boston, Chicago and a home- town show in Austin at The Parish on January 19th.
The band had a busy year promoting their second album Plague, including non-stop touring and appearances at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and more. USA Today called the record “shimmering indie pop” and MTV heralded it as “Incredibly strong songwriting poised to break out of the Texas panhandle any day now.”
On a short break from promoting Plague and armed with a desire to create something memorable they headed back to the studio and churned out a Christmas record First Christmas, which was met with much acclaim. The Los Angeles Times noted in its review, “Matthew Hines pumps lots of rhythmic drive into peppy arrangements of 10 yuletide chestnuts and a pair of originals, the title track and “This Is Christmas.” Imagination and humility are nicely balanced.” And Paste called it a “relaxing soundtrack to the annual holiday bustle.”
