CINCINNATI – February 18, 2013 – Cincinnati-based music group, The Mitchells, are playing their last local show in the area before traveling around the Midwest until May. The Mitchells are playing with Little Lights Saturday, February 23 at the Pike Street Lounge located at 266 West Pike Street, Covington Kentucky. The show starts at 10 PM.

The Mitchells formed in the summer of 2012 with the purpose of playing honest, original music. The reaction locally has been a wonderful success. The Mitchells play music that draws from a number of different genres including folk, classical, and indie rock. Live performance, and in particular the Mitchells’ love of old school gritty chamber music, massive orchestra scores, garage and pop rock has led to the inclusion of many ideas inspired by baroque enlightenment composers modern rock masters and the simple melodies birds make or that handheld radios produce whist spinning the dials.

Fans and listeners have described the group’s music in nostalgic terms, or more bluntly as “the soundtrack to your childhood,” and while their style is constantly evolving, this aesthetic remains at their core. The band believes they are firmly rooted in the world of indie rock.

The Mitchells are optimistic that what has worked in Cincinnati will also work in Lexington, Louisville, Indianapolis, Cleveland and Chicago.

You can catch them on Saturday at Pike Street Lounge but seating is limited so get there early.

The Mitchells’ members are:
Joseph Mitchell – Guitar, vocals
