The Stone Foxes “have ‘it’ – whatever ‘it’ is these days,” (Indie Shuffle), and they’re bringing “it” to MOTR Pub on Wednesday, April 10th. The San Francisco blues-rock quartet have released their latest album, Small Fires, on InGrooves/Fontana to rave reviews. Recorded with producer Doug Boehm (Girls, Dr. Dog, Drive by Truckers), Showbams calls it: “A truly great slice of rock and roll that is very palatable and enjoyable,” adding: “These guys have been going hard on the road for many years, and this album reflects their live show, similar to the rise of My Morning Jacket and their breakthrough album Z.” The official video for their single, “Everybody Knows” premiered on EW.com, and MP3.com says the song: “Jumps, it swings, it cuts, it’ll steal your girl, bust your nose, and still make you smile. This is the kind of stuff we get excited about around here.”
Since the release of their sophomore effort Bears & Bulls in 2010, heaps of praise have poured in for their bombastic live performances, and touring has afforded them the chance to share the stage with bands such as Cage the Elephant, Trombone Shorty and The Black Keys. The Stone Foxes have appeared on the bill of some of the nation’s largest music festivals, including: Wakarusa, Outside Lands, Deluna and the Voodoo Music Experience. The band aims to continue winning fans and igniting Small Fires as they celebrate their record’s release on the road this spring.
“In each one of us is a highway dreamer, a hopeless Kerouac, a beaten down peacenik, a starving organist, an American. The Stone Foxes connects those disparate threads and does so in a way that is both awe-inspiring and meritorious.” – Absolute Punk
