On Thursday May 16, 2013 Public Allies of Cincinnati and Elementz Urban Arts Center in conjunction with several community organizations will hold the First Voices of Cincinnati Showcase that is FREE in Over-the-Rhine at Elementz Urban Arts Center from 5:30-9 pm.
Vonceil Brown of Starfire U and an avid member of Elementz has partnered with Public Allies in an effort to provide a safe space for the youth in Cincinnati to express themselves through spoken word poetry…and other art forms.
The evening will include the Voices of Cincinnati Spoken word Showcase including Voices of Freedom members, Open Mic, Studio Kre8v dancers, Beats and Rhymes hip hop artists, S.T.A.R.S. singers and musicians, DJs, and FREE food will be included. The special open mic will be hosted by Cincinnati’s own DuWaup! The night will end a beat battle and cypher hosted by Kontrax!
Elementz Urban Arts Center’s mission is to teach inner-city youth how to find their creative voice through urban arts, in order to strongly encourage personal growth and life success. We provide a place where youth feel safe and free to express themselves, be recognized for their gifts, create family with other youth and adults in the community, and do this in a context that includes development of personal ethics and morals.
Public Allies Cincinnati, a program of BRIDGES For A Just Community, works to advance new leadership to strengthen communities, non-profits, and civic participation. Public Allies is changing the face and practice of leadership in communities across the country by demonstrating our conviction that everyone can lead, and that lasting social change results when citizens of all backgrounds step up, take responsibility and work together.
