Nashville, TN – The electrifying duo Shovels & Rope has announced dates for their fall headlining tour, running September 6 – October 12 (see tour dates below).  Venue sizes continue to grow for Shovels & Rope, who are out in support of their critically acclaimed album O’ Be Joyful, which was released in July 2012 and continues to be discovered by new fans. Shovels & Rope is the multi-talented husband & wife combo of Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent, who have been winning over fans with their compelling songs and powerful, honest and sweat soaked live performances.

The past year has been a consistently upward trajectory for Shovels & Rope, including a string of sold out shows, including New York (twice), Boston, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Denver and Nashville. They made their national television debut in January with a captivating performance on The Late Show with David Letterman (View Here). O’ Be Joyful received great support from a wide range of press, including Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Filter, Nylon, and more (View Highlights).

Their song, “Birmingham” was named #1 song of 2012 by American Songwriter Magazine (The album was #3) and made NPR Music’s 100 Favorite Songs of 2012. Paste named them the #2 ‘Best New Band of 2012.’ Cary Ann & Michael recently taped and episode of Austin City Limitsand just filmed a NPR Tiny Desk Concert.  On top of all of that, Shovels & Rope lead all nominations for the 2013 American Honors & Awards with four (Best Album, Song, Duo/Group, New/Emerging Artist) to be announced at the ceremony in September.

Shovels & Rope debuted on the major festival circuit this year, with a thrilling performance at Coachella to which the New York Times said, “Of all this afternoon’s young bands, they were the softest, but they might make the loudest crash.” They played at the Sasquatch, Hangout and Wakarusa festivals, with upcoming festival appearances scheduled at Lollapalooza, Newport Folk, Forecastle and Austin City Limits. They continue on the road through July with Dawes. For remaining tour dates, please visit http://www.shovelsandrope.com/
