Shakey Graves opening for Shovels & Rope

Recently described as a “frighteningly good” (NPR Music) performer who “makes the one-man band approach look effortless” (New York Times), Shakey Graves is touring the country with Shovels & Rope, performing solo with just a guitar and a handmade kickdrum made out of an old suitcase.
Until recently, Shakey was Austin, TX’s best kept musical secret. But with breakout performances at Pickathon, ACL Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest and the Americana Music Festival this year along with opening dates with Robert Plant, Phosphorescent, Shovels & Rope, Old Crow Medicine Show and The Devil Makes Three, word is spreading fast.
Remarkably, he has accomplished all of this with only self-released, lo-fi recordings, relying on incredible crowd responses and word-of-mouth as his main form of promotion. The quiet, eery nature of his recordings stands in stark contrast to his live show, which is about as rowdy as one guy with an acoustic guitar could possibly be.
