September 26th | Show: 11:45pm

The Philly based band, Toy Soldiers, will be releasing their new album, The Maybe Boys, on September 10th, 2013 produced by Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Man Man) and distributed by The Orchard. The band has announced their Fall tour to coincide with the release of The Maybe Boys, with all tour dates listed below. Toy Soldiers will be performing at Midpoint Music Festival on Sept. 26th in Cincinnati, OH. For more information, please visit: www.OhNoToySoldiers.com.

Consisting of Ron Gallo (lead vocals/guitar/harmonica), Bill McCloskey (bass/vocals), Luke Leidy (keys/vocals), Matt Kelly (guitar), and Dominic Billett (drums/vocals), the band has been earning a reputation for their raw live show. Gallo doesn’t let getting whacked in the head and bleeding profusely stop their performance.

“For me, getting on a stage is really surrendering to whatever plans the wild beast of the show and the people in the room have in store. It’s like throwing yourself in a raging sea of variables or hopping on a moving train. Even if you get whacked in the face with a guitar and are bleeding all over or your amplifier explodes or your having a bad day, it’s your responsibility to the audience and the show that overrides anything that may try to stop it and so it must go on,” explains Gallo.

Toy Soldiers’ first album,Whisper Down the Lane (2010), was defined by WXPN’s Bruce Warren as a“gritty, dirty collection … shifting flawlessly from roots, to blues, to country, to rockabilly…an undeniable barn-burner.”

Gallo describes the difference between the first and second record, saying, “Whisper Down the Lane is like kindergarten recess, a bunch of random kids making an audible Jackson Pollock painting at the schoolyard. The Maybe Boys is like five blood brothers reunited for our third time at Mardi Gras in New Orleans.  We’re still having a great time but we’re warmed up, we’ve got our sea legs and we’re a cohesive unit.  There’s a history and a chemistry bound by some sort of loose weird magic on this record.  The Maybe Boys is a live snapshot in time where everyone that listens is in the room dancing and drinking with us.”

Imperative to the recording of The Maybe Boys, Toy Soldiers wanted to capture the lively and unpolished live show that the band has earned a reputation for.

Gallo continues, “Bill Moriarty has a divine ability to get someone’s exact point across sonically, there is so much character in the records he makes and he has such a laid back and natural way of working. There’s no rhyme or reason or going by any book, it’s just whatever feels and sounds good in the land of Bill Moriarty and that was essential in the making of The Maybe Boys.”

Toy Soldiers are bringing their soulful brand of rock n’ roll to dive bars, festivals and theaters all over the US this summer and fall. The hard-working Philadelphia band have spent the past five years playing hundreds of shows and earning the title of one of the “Top Bands to Watch in 2013” by USA Today.

Toy Soldiers will release their new album, The Maybe Boys, on September 10th, 2013.
