Auditions for Cincinnati Opera’s 2015 Season Young Artists

Auditions for Cincinnati Opera’s 2015 Young Artist positions will be held at the Corbett Opera Center in Music Hall, 1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio on October 30 & 31 and November 1 & 2. 

Young Artist positions are specifically for young, up-and-coming singers who wish to gain professional experience and exposure in the opera industry. Young artists will be engaged as Choristers in Cincinnati Opera’s 2015 Summer Festival productions. In addition to their chorus duties, Young Artists will perform at various donor and patron events and programs during the season, and may also be engaged to cover principal roles in rehearsals or perform comprimario roles in mainstage performances. Young Artists have the opportunity to work with distinguished professionals in the field, as well as experienced staff members, to build and enhance repertoire through private coachings. Rehearsals for the 2015 Summer Festival Season will begin mid-May (exact start dates TBD) and run through July 31.

Audition Process

Auditions are by invitation through an application process. Not all applicants will receive an audition. Applicants who receive an audition are also eligible for positions in the 2015 Summer Festival Chorus.

Application Process

1.    Complete the online application and submit the $25 application fee athttps://www.yaptracker.com/applications/cincinnati-opera-2015/

2.    Completed applications must be submitted electronically no later than 11:59 p.m. onWednesday, October 1, 2014. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

3.    Prepare four (4) arias in the original languages. An accompanist will be provided.

Please Note: Positions in the Cincinnati Opera Summer Festival Chorus and principal cover roles in season productions are under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists.

2015 Season

The 2015 Summer Festival, which runs from June 18 to July 31, will open with Giuseppe Verdi’s dark tale of revenge, Il Trovatore. Next, Cincinnati Opera presents the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon and William M. Hoffman’s Morning Star, with seven performances in the Corbett Theater at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. The season continues with two productions at Music Hall: Gaetano Donizetti’s delightful Don Pasquale, and a stunning new production of Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot. Cincinnati Opera will kick off the season with Opera in the Park, a free concert in Washington Park, on June 7. All performances feature the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
