Bands and artists now have the opportunity to apply for a showcase at this year’s MidPoint Point Music Festival. The festival, scheduled September 24–26, 2015, aims to continue a tradition of promoting new music discovery while celebrating music pioneers.
Artists need to submit an electronic press kit for showcase consideration. The submission process will be open Wednesday, February 18 through Sunday, May 17, 2015. Details can be found on MPMF.com. A press kit must have three original songs, along with essential information and a photo to help promote artists.
For years, MidPoint has been fortunate to discover talent from around the world through a partnership with the booking site Sonicbids. Despite the benefits Sonicbids offers, a change was needed for today’s festival industry.
MidPoint is now working with the Cincinnati-based company CloudPressKit to host and deliver CPK’s for showcase consideration. This move should provide great advantages for the festival and it’s terms are much more artist friendly.
Instead of annual or monthly fees, CloudPressKit only requires that a band submit to a single event per year.
That action automatically renews their press kit to an active status online for one year. The submission fee for MidPoint 2015 is only $15. (It used to be $25 + Sonicbids membership.)
Close to 900 bands have been booked for MidPoint via the electronic press kit process since 2008. Selected artists receive a stipend plus three-day passes for all-access in the festival. Last year’s festival had about 180 showcases total on 12 stages spread throughout historic Over-the-Rhine and Downtown Cincinnati.
MidPoint strives to promote Cincinnati as a great city for music fans and musicians to live and work. Every year, about one fourth of the showcases feature local and regional acts. Our plan is to continue to support our rich music scene. We look forward to your support at the festival.
