My Stupid Heart, the new album from Grammy- nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins is available now on Rounder Sugar Hill.

Steven Wine from Associated Press comments, “Whether he’s singing at a festival, in a roadhouse or on a pool deck, well-traveled troubadour Shawn Mullins knows how to command an audience. An excellent supporting cast includes Chuck Cannon, who helped compose six of the 10 songs, and stellar guitarist Tom Bukovac. Credit producer Lari White, who doubles as Cannon’s wife, for getting Mullins at his best on the record.”

Rolling Stone Country’s Andrew Leahey notes, ““Atlanta’s hometown hero turns broken hearts into pop gold. My Stupid Heart picks up where (the last) record left off, whipping up its own variation of Americana with Mullins’ baritone at the helm.”

In the No Depression cover story Lynn Oldshue proclaims, “A stupid heart brings out the best in Mullins.”

Creative Loafing‘s Hal Horowitz says, “The socio-racial lyrics of the menacing and swampy ‘Ferguson,’ and the hopeful tale of a drifter named Frank looking for better days on the sing-along ‘Sunshine’ push Mullins into edgier, if always melodic, roots terrain. His velvet and burgundy baritone wraps around material combining reflection with loneliness and loss on the ethereal ‘The Great Unknown,’ and the usually jaunty, humorous end-of-the-world New Orleans horn romp on the closing ‘Pre-Apocalyptic Blues.’”

Edwin Arnaudin writing for Asheville Citizen-Times claims, “Mullins brings wit & wisdom…he remains a steady and welcome musical force.”

Several outlets were also eager to premiere various elements of the release. In addition to annoucing the album release, Rolling Stone Country offered a sneak peek at the title track. The Bluegrass Situation premiered, “Go And Fall,” and the full album stream was featured on Pandora the week leading up to the release.

Mullins is on tour now in support of My Stupid Heart, stops include Nashville, New York, Washington DC, among others. Mullins will wrap this set of dates with a hometown show in Atlanta November 28.

My Stupid Heart is available now on Rounder Sugar Hill.
