Critically acclaimed fiddle player and singer-songwriter Amanda Shires will be performing at The Southgate House Revival in Newport, KY on December 4th at 8:00 pm. Shires’ new album My Piece Of Land, recorded by award-winning producer Dave Cobb, has garnered rave reviews since being released on Sept. 16th. Garden & Gun praised Shires as “…an insightful, vivid writer as a solo artist, able to wring rich detail out of just a line or two.” Associated Press added, “It’s the voice of a performer fully invested in her material” and the collection has also been featured in Texas Monthly, Paste, Relix and more. Shires reflected on the transition into motherhood, the importance of family and finding a true sense of place to write My Piece Of Land, which is being called an artistic milestone. Contemplating love, fear, stability self-esteem and more, Shires’ shares a personal account of everything she is going through at such a pivotal point in her life. My Piece Of Land was written while she was seven months pregnant and unable to travel. The result, is a compelling set of songs, beautifully articulated with thoughtful lyrics and emotive vocals. 

Balancing a heavy tour schedule with new motherhood, Shires is hitting the road this fall with highlights including performances at The Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, TX (10/9), Mountain Stage in Charleston, WV (10/16), The Echo in Los Angeles, CA (11/17) and more. Shires honed her chops playing fiddle with the Texas Playboys, and has since gone on to tour and record with artists including John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver, Todd Snider, Justin Townes Earle, and most recently her husband Jason Isbell.
