Nashville’s own alt-rock five piece Moon Taxi has released new single “Two High,” which was produced by the band’s lead guitarist Spencer Thomson and aired initially on Sirius XM‘s Jam On earlier this week and is now streaming via Relix.com. PRESS HERE TO LISTEN. The single is also part of Spotify‘s New Music Friday playlist today. Lyrically, “Two High” is “a song about hope,” expressed frontman Trevor Terndrup. “Hope for understanding, hope for acceptance, and hope for our future. We were inspired by the simple and universal peace sign. It’s a gesture we would like to see more of.”
In support of “Two High,” the quintet have announced forthcoming festival appearances. This month (May 2017) the band will return to perform at the two-day Dylan Fest in Nashville, which Rolling Stone reported last year Moon Taxi “whipping the audience into earsplitting ecstasy and garnering one of the night’s most thunderous ovations,” plus will appear for the second time at Shaky Knees in Atlanta. All tour dates listed below.
With four highly-praised albums under their belt – including their last LP Daybreaker (2015 BMG) that debuted #2 on the Billboard New Artist Chart – the band has garnered national TV appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman, CONAN and Late Night with Seth Meyers, plus a performance on NPR World Café. Many of their singles have been a part of multiple commercials and TV spots including: McDonald’s, BMW, Nashville, MLB, NFL and HBO Sports to name a few. The members of Moon Taxi are no strangers to the stage, and their energetic live performance has landed them numerous major US festivals appearances over the years, including making their debut at Coachella – performing mainstage – in 2016, plus they have performed at Governor’s Ball, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Firefly, Hangout and Forecastle festivals.
Moon Taxi is Trevor Terndrup (vocals, guitarist), Spencer Thomson (lead guitarist and producer), Wes Bailey (keyboardist), Tommy Putnam (bassist) and Tyler Ritter (drummer).
