When James Brown was about to take the stage during his shows, the announcer would say “It’s Star Time!” MOTR Pub in Over-the-Rhine is proud to say “It’s Star Time” for an upcoming art exhibit with a focus on King Records musicians and artists. Over 15 local visual artists will be presenting portraits of King Records recording artists. Each artist has chosen their own star from King to create a work of art. From Soul Brother number one, James Brown, to the Sweetheart of the Hayride, Bonnie Lou, this exhibit showcases the wide range of music recorded in Cincinnati at King. This is preview event for King Records Month that takes place in September. Philip Paul, the legendary session drummer at King, who backed many of their performers, will be playing with his trio during the opening that is happening at MOTR Pub on Final Final on Main Street. His band the Philip Paul Trio will do 2 sets starting at 5PM.
