Ian is an international touring artist from Austin, TX who has opened for the Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Bob Dylan, Paul Weller, etc. He has collaborated with Ice Cube, acted in the movie Slingblade, had multiple top 20 rock radio songs, and appeared on countless TV and radio shows.
His touring regiment is relentless, with over 170 shows last year alone. The band plays with a ferocity that one would expect from a brand new band, but with the musicality and depth of 30+ years of touring. Many people focus on the guitar playing, and the comparisons to Jimi Hendrix and Ian’s Texas mentors are apt, but Ian’s voice owes more to Sly Stone and Aaron Neville, and his songwriting is adventurous and deft, often compared to contemporaries like Wilco or Jeff Buckley. On top of that, the band has a voice that allows them to improvise and create crazy psychedelic journeys, often emptying into angelic four part harmonies at the moment when you thought your head would explode.
Ian is touring behind his new record, Strange Days, which he made with Adrian Quesada(Brownout, Grupo Fantasmo) and Jim Greer(Foster the People, Dr. Octagon). The record’s early success has led to sold out shows all over the country, including Antone’s(Austin), Triple Door theater(Seattle), Fitzgerald’s(Houston), as well as marquis upcoming shows such as City Winery in Chicago and a New Years Eve show in Austin to 40,000 people.
