Emmaline is a University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music Alumn and launched her career as a performing musician in Cincinnati. Between the ages of 18-21 she worked her way up from playing weekly upscale restaurant and bar gigs to holding a residency at local jazz club The Harth Lounge, all the way up to singing with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
She was able to fund the recording of the record entirely from her social media following and crowdfunding. Have a listen here: All My Sweetest Dreams
Her debut EP features a seasoned group of jazz players—many of whom were part of trumpeter Roy Hargrove’s funk ensemble RH Factor. Nearly all the vocal tracks were completed in one afternoon with most done in one take. Despite the improvisatory spirit and feel, Emmaline’s music defies simple genre-classification, incorporating elements of Jazz, R&B, soul and even hip-hop.
