Last week, Kitchen Dwellers welcomed their sophomore studio effort, Muir Maid—produced by Chris Pandolfi of the Infamous Stringdusters—into the world. This week, they’re sharing the official video for “Shadows” and announcing an extensive national headlining tour in support of the release for 2020.
Billboard ran an exclusive interview with mandolinist Shawn Swain behind the concept of “Shadows,” which Swain says is a fictional story about three people with their own struggles centered around the opioid crisis in America which largely catalyzed the songwriting behind the tune. As Swain says, “I tried to point out what it’s like for people who are living in this situation in an attempt to open some eyes and let people know that a lot of people out there need help—and when you do need help, it’s hard to ask for it.”
In addition to the new video, Kitchen Dwellers has announced an extensive headlining national tour spanning through April 2020. After their debut appearance on Jam Cruise in January and an appearance at Snowstalk in Frisco, CO, Kitchen Dwellers will play three additional nights in Colorado hitting the mountain towns of Steamboat, Crested Butte and Durango, as well as play a headlining date in Flagstaff, AZ before their appearance at Gem & Jam in Tuscon, AZ.
A handful of West Coast dates bring the band through San Diego, CA, Olympia and Seattle, WA, as well as Portland and Bend, OR, before a two-night play in their home state at Bozeman, MT’s Rialto Theatre.
After taking a few weeks off, the band returns in early March for a play in Boulder, CO at the Fox Theatre, before an appearance at WinterWonderGrass California in Tahoe’s Squaw Valley.
The April jaunt of the tour sees the band hit two nights in Ohio for performances in Cleveland and Columbus, followed by a run down the East and South East coasts, including an appearance at WinterWonderGrass Presents: Sugar & Strings, culminating in Atlanta, GA on April 25th.
