Bootsy Collins Shares New Video for “Slide Eazy” (w/ Ellis Hall)

“I’m going back to my James-Brown-style days with “Slide Eazy,” says Bootsy, who teamed with Ellis Hall, guitarist Rod Castro and horn player Brennan Johns for his latest single from The Power of the One.

Watch the new video here, directed and edited by Jameson Mangan. The song was written by Bootsy, Ellis and Rod (full credits are below).

“Ellis Hall is one of the most amazing singers and musicians on the planet. His style is so woven into the sound of the planet. Rod Castro plays many different musical styles. I’m really having fun with it, kind of like when I was with Funkadelic, and you had funk, jazz and rock players all within the one band. It sounds like an all-night party.”

Calling all Funkateers! On Friday, April 9 at 6:00pm ET, Bootsy will be launching new NFT crypto art in a public auction at Sugar Club in the virtual world, Decentraland.

The Power of the One is available now on all streaming services, with vinyl on the way. “Music is always a soother, a healer, and that’s how I want to use this record,” adds Bootsy. Listen to The Power of the One here (Bootzilla Records / Sweetwater / E-One).

True essence of the funk is the Power of the One, and it all began when James Brown and his musicians dominated the first count of each measure. For Bootsy, “the One” is also a philosophy: “The Power of the One is what pulls us through,” he says. “Everyone has “The One” inside of them. You never know who is using you for guidance, so always be pure and never fake the funk. Everybody’s got a light. Everybody needs to shine.”
