Salsa on the Square brought to you by P&G, is back on Thursday May 6th with music from NuyoRican LF. The event brings life back to Fountain Square in a safe way by celebrating the Salsa music everyone loves while putting a pause on dancing until later in the summer. This popular weekly event will take place every Thursday, from May 6 through September 30, 7-10p.
The event features live local and regional Latin bands specializing in Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, and Latin Jazz. Typically, the event features local dance instructors hosting large dance classes teaching basic and intermediate Latin dancing. Salsa on the Square’s dance floor and dance instruction are currently on hold due to COVID19 precautions, instead the plaza will feature extra seating, spaced 6-feet apart for patrons to enjoy the music and socialize with their small group.
The series is returning to Fountain Square after a break for most of 2020 due to COVID19. Organizers hosted a very successful three-day event in September of 2020 to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The event featured a socially distanced dance floor complete with colorful floor markers, and all patrons were required to wear masks to enter the area. The Salsa on the Square team is taking key learnings from that September event into consideration to build a plan to bring dancing back safely at some point this summer as COVID19 regulations are lifted.

Mazunte will be returning to the event in 2021 serving up tacos, tostados, and guacamole to hungry patrons on-site. Fountain Square concessions offers full bar service including beer, wine, frozen Margaritas, and Coca Cola products.

Salsa on the Square is sponsored by P&G, La Mega Media, and Fifth Third Bank. No tickets or registration is required for this event series. Patrons will be required to wear masks when moving about the space, visiting the restrooms, and ordering from the bar or vendors. Patrons may remove their masks when they are seated at their table with their party. Fountain Square is located at 520 Vine Street in downtown Cincinnati. Safe and secure parking is available at Fountain Square’s underground garage facility. Fountain Square is managed and programmed by 3CDC.
