indie rockers Motherfolk premiere their latest single “black eye/bad night.” The garage/surf rock-inspired track is about causing “bad night after bad night for yourself,” according to vocalist/guitarist Nathan Dickerson, and wanting to break free from self-destructive habits. Listen exclusively today on Glide Magazine.

“black eye/bad night” is the third single, following “anchor” and “head above water”, from Motherfolk’s upcoming EP, the flower. Due out on November 5, the 7-track EP is the result of a year spent hard at work during the pandemic, creating a versatile sound that lies somewhere between indie pop and garage rock.

“‘the flower’ is our most ambitious release yet,” shares vocalist/guitarist Nathan Dickerson. “Over the past year, we have been writing nonstop with the goal of crafting a new sound. This EP tells the story of what it is like to travel to the darkest place in your mind and what your reality becomes after coming out the other side.”the flower is available for pre-save here: https://hypeddit.com/link/u4cngg.

What started out as a writing project between two college friends has turned into a fully realized band untethered to genres. Now composed of Bobby Paver and Nathan Dickerson on vocals and guitar, bassist Clayton Allender, drummer Ethan Wescott and Karlie Dickerson on keys, Motherfolk are not only bandmates, but best friends. The band’s close-knit relationship allows each member to be their most authentic self, leaving every ounce of their souls to be poured into each song and high-energy performance.

Since their formation, Motherfolk have been on a steady upward trajectory, amassing over 5 million Spotify streams on their three studio albums, selling out shows while touring heavily across the United States and securing a spot on the Lollapalooza 2021 lineup.
