Canadian-born, now Los Angeles-based musician Sam Weber will perform in Newport at Southgate House Revival on March 9 in support of his forthcoming album Get Free. Weber has logged countless hours on the road as a touring musician, he has collaborated with Grammy winners and embarked on extensive international tours; his own music spans an eclectic range of roots, Americana, improvisational music and jazz influences. He has been hailed by fans and critics alike, including Guitar Player Magazine who noted, “Sam Weber’s expansive blend of roots influences is a testament to fierce ambition.”
Weber is gearing up to release Get Free on February 4th; the album features Grammy-nominee Madison Cunningham (“Here’s to The Future”) and Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes on drums; it was mixed by Grammy-nominated engineer Robbie Lackritz (Feist, Bahamas) and co-produced with his partner Mallory Hauser. Predominantly written pre-pandemic, lockdown hit before Weber could record head into the studio to record the album’s 10 songs. Dedicated to his craft and determined to see the album through, he did what he had to do—which meant turning the living room of his Hollywood apartment into a personal recording studio.
