Returning for its 18th year, Second Sunday on Main (SSOM), is a free neighborhood street festival in Cincinnati’s historic Over-The-Rhine neighborhood. This monthly celebration includes vibrant arts and music programming, a diverse and eclectic vendor market, and the MadTree Biergarten lounge. Cincinnati Music Accelerator brings their Mobile Stage Trailer to 12th and Main, to complement the SSOM Main Stage programming.
The event’s July theme, “Music City”, celebrates the partnership of Second Sunday on Main with Cincinnati Music Accelerator. Cincinnati Music Accelerator (CMA) strives to provide opportunities and exposure in various communities around the region for musicians, and at the same time beautify and enliven communities through the musical arts. “Going into our second year of this partnership, we’ve seen tremendous success and positive engagement from our OTR community members and we only hope to see this grow more and more” says Kick Lee, founder and Executive Director of CMA.
The “Music City on Main” theme was also selected, to honor and elevate Cincinnati as a music city, as Cincinnati was ranked the seventh most influential music city in the U.S. by 888 Casino in 2021. Additionally, Second Sunday on Main wanted to compliment the Cincinnati Music Festival, returning to Cincinnati July 21st, by turning the entire month of July into showcasing the city’s local musical talent. Cincinnati Music Accelerator programmed the Main Stage music with its top musicians, and music-themed vendors will be on-site, including Cryptogram, selling hand printed posters of local musicians and Don’t Fret Guitars, who sell musical instruments constructed using recycled, or reclaimed materials like cigar boxes, cookware, and more.
